A Word on DIY Fitting & Building Regs
Swapping a sealed unit in a sound frame is a very doable DIY job: pop the beads carefully, note the packer positions, sit the new unit on its packers and re-bead. Toughened glass is required in critical locations like doors and low-level glazing — tell us where the unit is going and we'll spec it correctly. Like-for-like unit replacement doesn't carry the building-regs paperwork of full window replacement, which makes it a great first glazing job.

Do you fit replacement sealed units?
No — Tradesupply Windows is supply only. We supply the made-to-measure unit for you, your glazier or your installer to fit. For supply and installation, our sister company Homestyle Windows UK is in the same building at Martlesham, or we can recommend trusted local glaziers.

How quickly can I get a unit?

My double glazing has misted up — do I need a new window?
Usually not. Misting means the sealed unit has failed, not the frame. If the frame is sound, a made-to-measure replacement unit restores the window at a fraction of the cost of full replacement.
What glass types can you supply?
All of them: A, B and C energy ratings, obscure patterned privacy glass from the Pilkington range, roof glass, self-cleaning, acoustic soundproofing, toughened, non-toughened, laminated and more — and specs can be combined in one unit.
How do I measure a unit?
Width, height and full thickness (both panes plus spacer — commonly 24 or 28mm), in millimetres. Or bring the old unit to the counter and we'll measure it with you.
When does glass need to be toughened?
Safety glass is required in critical locations — typically in and beside doors, and below 800mm from floor level. Tell us where the unit's going and we'll spec it correctly.
