Full Replacement or Cap-Over?

The honest answer depends on what's under the old boards. Strip back to sound timber and cap-over can be a smart refurbishment; if the timber's tired, full replacement is the only proper job. We stock both — and we'll tell you straight.

Fitting It Yourself?

A Word on DIY Fitting & Building Regs

Guttering is one of the friendlier DIY jobs on the house — logical, satisfying and hard to get badly wrong with the right brackets and falls. Full fascia replacement means working safely at height and stripping back to the rafters, so be honest about your comfort level and use proper access equipment. Roofline work doesn't carry the building-regs paperwork that replacement windows and doors do — which makes it a great first trade-counter job.

Do you install fascia, soffits and guttering?

No — Tradesupply Windows is supply only. We stock the boards, guttering and trims for you or your installer to fit. For supply and installation, our sister company Homestyle Windows UK is in the same building at Martlesham, or we can recommend trusted local installers.

Is roofline in stock or made to order?

In stock. Unlike our made-to-order windows and doors, we keep a large range of Epwin fascia, soffits, guttering and trims at the Martlesham counter, ready to collect the same day.

Whose roofline do you stock?

We stock roofline from Epwin — one of the UK's largest building products groups — so profiles, colours and trims stay consistent job after job.

Full replacement or cap-over — which do I need?

Full replacement boards (around 16–18mm) fix to the rafter ends after a strip-out — the proper long-term job. Cap-over boards (around 9mm) fix over existing sound timber as a faster refurbishment. Push a bradawl into the old boards: if it sinks in soft, it's full replacement.

What colours do you keep?

White is the everyday stock line, with black, anthracite, rosewood and oak foils available — some finishes may need ordering in, so call ahead and we'll confirm what's on the shelf.

What guttering profiles do you stock?

Half round, square line and deep flow, with matching downpipes, unions, angles, brackets and outlets to finish the run.

Can a DIYer do their own roofline?

Guttering, absolutely — a great DIY job. Full fascia replacement means proper access equipment and working at height, so be honest about your comfort level. We'll talk you through it at the counter.
